Hotel St Francis, San Francisco, September 1921. The principal players – silent movie star Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle, actress Virginia Rappe and rabble-rouser Maude Delmont. Room 1219 – a room of secrets. Roscoe Arbuckle – the man who turned slapstick into gold – is at the top of his profession; but a charge of murder sees his world come crashing down.
