Description:
Doctors will only admit seriously ill or injured patients to the ICU if they believe they have a good chance of getting through the gruelling procedures. But of those that survive, one in five will die within a year and many others are left with lifelong, debilitating conditions. Surely we should be doing better than that! Dr Ananda Mirchandani (The University of Edinburgh) believes that oxygen is the key to understanding and predicting life after the ICU and is on a mission to improve patient outcomes.
